My Christmas cards

Not a great welcome for my new follower as I am being a bit bah-humbug and moaning about our freezing temps, I have missed visiting you all but between helping prepare kilograms of onions and shopping, on the understanding that we are going to be under siege, has taken the wind out of my sails. Cards not all done yet but I feel a wee halo rising above ankle level. Sending all my crafty pals a hug and hoping you are all staying warm and I will visit you all again soon. Please feel free to giggle as  I am now showing you how I like to see my Christmas cards.

Fiddly and camera shy

Hello my crafty pals and thank you for your comments which made me very happy. Hope you are all well and using up loads of stash. I’m afraid this next card is a bit of fiddling here and there, definitely was not what I set out to do but I was reluctant to throw it away but perhaps it is why some of this has been sitting in stash for some time.  I've decided that some of my rose leaves have mildew – lol (must be all the rain we've had this year). I think the main problem was that the card I used was single sided pearlescent coated and stretched a bit odd in the embossing folder. Still it kept me out of mischief and tucked up indoors. It did not want to be photographed as the jelly! frames are so shiny but I put it on here anyway and please feel free to make any suggestions and you all know I love your comments. Hope you are all staying safe in this weather. xx Flora

Snow

Hello my crafty pals and thank you for your comments which I have so enjoyed reading. Hope you are all well. Welcome to my newest crafty pal, very glad to have you join in. I will try and squeak a quick card in between power cuts today as they are testing the service in our area, maybe they should have done it weeks ago before the cables came down in our snowfall – Oh! well. Regardless of the inconvenience and the fact we seem to be totally unable to cope with it, I do like a bit of snow, but only when I think everyone is safely tucked away. I actually think we have moved to a different continent without being informed as the amount of rain over the last few days has been horrendous and I do feel for anyone who has been flooded.
Onto my card then and I can only describe it as snow – lol. Is this perhaps taking Clean And Simple a bit far? See my new toy, it is scrummy, Dee’s Distinctively snow stacker tree die and gosh the only hard work was choosing as there were so many gorgeous ones.  The glitter box is also out – hee hee and my keyboard smells of coffee (oops) luckily I drink black coffee. Have some crafty fun. xx Flora.

Pink Art deco

Good Morning my crafty pals. Hope you are all well and I will be very glad of a visit and your company today as always. While the weather was reasonable it was easier to keep away from my crafting but yesterday was miserable and today is atrocious, no doubt the ducks will be carrying out an inspection of the water level quite soon.
I had a wee shuffle through my die cutters, I must get a better storage system than my biscuit and shoe boxes - hee hee. My had fell automatically to one of my favourite dies so I had a play with a ready printed topper albeit I did glitz it a bit, and enough of a mix of straight and jaunty angles. I was reasonably happy with it and hopefully the photo isn't too bad.
I have had some better sleep over the last 5 nights and my eyes are less irritated so should be back to a bit of colouring in soon. I shall hopefully get around your blogs as the day goes and comment also, but please excuse the spelling. Hope you are all enjoying your crafting and messing about.

Seesaw

Hello my crafty pals and welcome to my new pal. Hope you are all well. I think I sussed out this schedule thingy, you set the date and time and then click publish – we shall see later. I am at the eye hospital having tests so not looking forward to it but my sight is so important to me, taking care of it is a top priority. Afterwards as I am in Bristol I intend going shopping so hopefully my blurry vision doesn’t misread the prices but I should be ok in the pound shop and primark. I may even get as far as St Nicolas market to browse the lace and buttons.
I have played with an oldy favourite here but this is the first time I have used promarkers for it. It took a very gentle touch to do this so much practice needed – lol. I love reading your comments and I will try to get around blogland when I come home unless they advise rest. If I disappear for a few days you will know why so please have some crafty fun.

PS: Good Afternoon, glad to see that I managed the schedule thingy, Thank you all for your comments and good wishes, my visit went very well once I got there , we had to be diverted due to an accident that closed the main road so I was late. I do have ointment and drops for my eyes so no crafting or driving for a few days.  I shall then catch up on everything that is happening. Sending you all crafty hugs. xx Flora

Peel-off Christmas

Hello my crafty pals. Hope you are all well and using up that Christmas stash. It is the turn of the peel-offs today and I do feel they are a bit maligned these days, lol. I did wonder whether to give this a little colour detail, such as lights from the windows but I felt a little bit lazy so I left it. I added some of my new little buttons for detail, I do like those. As always I am pleased to hear from you so do comment when you visit. xx Flora

Poppies 2

Another quick post today to say hello to my crafty pals and thank you all for your lovely comments. Yesterday I had to take my eldest to an emergency dentist appointment as she was still without a car, so I was "forced" to dawdle some time away in the Range. I haven't been there for ages and I had to be so good as they had loads of art-deco stuff there, thought I would share the info. I did buy two storage boxes, got 3 packs of great little buttons, an embossing folder and some unusual Kraft card.
Anyway onto my quick card, I used the poppy stamp from the Joanna Sheen Garden Fairy collection added a bit of colour and that was it, I cut the panels with the Spellbinders deckled rectangle die.

Bear on Bike

Good Morning to all my crafty pals, hope you are all well and recovering from your busy weekends. This is going to be a quick post and hopefully a bit of a wander around blogland, sorry I haven't been up to commenting lately but I have loved your cards, projects and photos..
My card is a quickish bit of stash layering and colouring, a bit of play with a couple of die cuts from my oldest dies for a wee boy card. The two dies did not come together but I think they work ok. Sending you all crafty hugs. xx Flora

Poppies and things

Hello my crafty pals. I am struggling a bit at the moment as I am so tired, I shall pop over to your blog Sharon and see your award and sort it out when I get my head around it. I will also hop about and catch up on looking at everyone’s creations. I have had a wee play with the D-Lites dies I bought, they are a bit tricky to use but I expect that was just me really. My allotment has had little use this year, last year we had tons of fruit and this year has been awful, never mind. This card looks a bit like it with overhanging bushes, bulrushes and poppies. I say I should give it up but hubby wants to continue with it, we shall see.
I am taking my oldest daughter to work in the morning as her car has a problem and then I will rest so I thought I would have a play with schedule to see if it works for me, this post could disappear into cyber-space. (hee hee)

Lace and Pink

Good Afternoon to all, hope you are all keeping well and cosy. Lovely to see you have been popping by and letting me know. I am surrounded by bits and pieces but not quite the right bits to go together if you know what I mean or maybe I'm too tired to see it. I treated myself to the Garden Lattice M-bossibilities which is totally gorgeous and a selection of four D-lites, which are also great but you do require patience to use them. I have also been pottering in my garden and would not recommend a giant bamboo so if you see strange roots appearing in a spot nearby it wasn't my idea.
Anyway I have had a wee play and have been so tempted to add a bow or something else.
Paper and card - card blank is an A5,
and the light pink card embossed is from my special card/paper box.

Copper and Verdigris

Hello my crafty pals. Well I survived my outing yesterday, had another of my metal fillings removed and replaced with a white composite, the next one will be next month. There is no actual evidence that replacing the fillings helps in the battle against FM symptoms, but I am willing it so. I have to go to hospital as I react to the anaesthetic so it is a good opportunity for the students to learn how to apply it safely and I don’t mind being a guinea pig. The great benefit is that I am being treated in a large room with so much going on and continuous interaction with the students that I can almost forget I am at a dentist.
Not too sure about my butterfly today as it was a large area for the gilding flakes and I used different glue, I will go back to my Zig pen next time, still I learn as I go. I faffed about with it so long that the verdigris could be real, lol.  I am in this sort of colour mood at the moment and I notice I have quite a number of papers in these shades, lol. Hope you are all having fun as you go.

Paper and card - card blank is a 19 x 12cm made by overprinting some card from stash, backing oval also from stash,
Dies used – Memory Box Delia and Finn butterflies
decorated with gilding & sakura pen and Sizzix daisies.

Useful Tip

I have no card today as I have a dental hospital appointment and by now you will have gleaned that I do not do well at dentists, it is an FM thing, but hey ho I got to go. I still wanted to say Thank you to all my crafty pals for their lovely comments and kind words yesterday. Also hello to Hazel who persevered and hopefully we will be seeing her jewellery creations on a blog soon. I am prone to dropping things especially bling so I thought I would pass on my useful way of not making such a mess when I do so. I put cheap hair ties, from the pound shop, around the boxes. I hope this tip will be helpful to someone, and have a great crafty day all.

Rounded Bottom

Hello my crafty pals. Thank you for visiting and for the lovely comments you left. I love reading them and knowing I have company as I meander along in this fun world. Welcome to my new pals. I have now found where your comment boxes wander off to, lol.
I know I’m not supposed to be here, I should be on my way to shopping at the Taunton show but we have had so much snow this morning. To say I am disappointed is an understatement.
I made this but what is it and what am I going to do with it – lol. This is what comes of playing, I wanted to play with curving the card around at the bottom and I also wanted to play with my spellbinder circle die that I bought weeks ago. I also put an embossing folder through my grand calibur for the first time. So feel free to have a giggle at my thing with the rounded bottom. Take care all especially if travelling.

This shows my lining paper in the wrong place so I half lined the box and my thing has a nice back.

PS: I am having a bit of a background crisis at the moment – lol. My translate dropdown has disappeared although it looks fine in design mode so I think Windows 8 has pinched it.

Bag attempt 1

Good  Morning my crafty pals. Thank you for visiting and for the lovely comments you left. Always great to know I’m not alone in doing something even if it is cutting a wonky line. First I’d better apologise to Patricia (patricia-summerhousecraft) for my attempt at a bag, I think I’ll have to come to Scotland for some lessons. I didn’t have any double sided card (duh – could have printed some) so I stuck 2 sheets of single sided together – lol. I did have some real fun trying to do the bag and no doubt my pal will smile tomorrow when she receives it, she knows I don't usually try anything like this. I forgot to cut the handle so it will be a clutch bag. Sorry if my comments are a bit brief or half/totally missing, I am having trouble with the comments page hiding on me.
Tomorrow I am off to the Sincerely Yours show in Taunton (my next post should be some goodies) so if any pals are there please say hello, I will be the one causing mayhem tripping peeps over with my crutches, lol. I have a list and also some pennies – I will take my card as a just in case but my aim will be to keep to what I take with me. I am going to try to use satnav on my phone for the first time so if you see a wee purple IQ wandering about aimlessly you will know to point it in the right direction (I don’t think the petrol tank is big enough to reach Scotland).
I used Spellbinders Grand Labels 4 to cut the bag and lopped the bottom straight, some memory box/poppystamp window dies and a Magnolia die to decorate. Hope you all have fun for the rest of the crafty weekend.  xx Flora

it is more goth than deco but I do like those dies so I also popped one on the back -

Wonky-decoupage stepper

Hello my crafty pals. Thank you for visiting. You are all looking slimmer today as my new graphics card has removed lbs (or kgs if you prefer) from all of you. I’ve never been able to cut a straight line so I smiled at the idea of cutting something wonky on purpose. I printed this decoupage ages ago and I think it was probably a free download. I hadn’t a clue what I wanted to do with it but just thought I would have a wee play. I made the topper to start with using the Spellbinders wonky squares, then folded an A4 sheet of pearlescent card, then I worked out roughly where to do the cut on each side and then where I wanted the folds, I didn’t actually do any measuring so I think it worked out reasonably well. I ran a bit of lace along the bottom mounted on matching coordination card to the card used for the sides. I popped a few flowers, bead sprays and pearls about and a Memory box die cut which I cut in half after gilding.
I was not sure what order to put things onto my card and felt a bit “all thumbs” when doing this one but still enjoyed it. I will catch up with viewing your blogs soon if I don’t run out of steam. I have so much to learn.

and a sort of top view of it - lol.

Don't forget to have some crafty fun. xx Flora
